Mahmood Kaviani leads the English Language Department at Araxina International Academy. He has taught English since 1998 and holds the Cambridge DELTA and CELTA alongside TESOL and teacher-training qualifications from London Teacher Training College and Chichester College in the United Kingdom.
His work centres on preparing candidates for IELTS and TOEFL, and on the academic English students need once a degree actually begins — following lectures, writing to an examiner's criteria, and reading academic sources critically. Alongside classroom teaching he has spent much of his career mentoring and supervising other teachers, training language departments in assessment practice and classroom technique.

Where his teaching and research focus.
Teaching directly against the four bands examiners actually mark: Task Response, Cohesion and Coherence, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Lexical Resource — so candidates know why a script scores what it scores.
Treating listening, speaking, reading and writing as one system rather than four separate subjects, so progress in one reinforces the others instead of leaving a weak component to block a score.
Using syntax trees and discourse analysis so learners understand how sentences are built, which turns comprehension in reading and listening into control in speaking and writing.
Structured vocabulary work built on graded word lists and registers — formal and informal, spoken and written, general and technical — taught by priority of use rather than at random.
Level-by-level syllabuses from introductory through to advanced, including courses built for specific audiences: medical and legal professionals, business users, and students of literature and translation.
Training teaching departments in classroom technique and the psychology of teaching — a role he has held alongside his own teaching since 2006.
More than twenty-five years in language education.
Language institutes and academies across Iran, including the House of Language, Safir Language Institute, Pooyesh Academy, Taq-e-Kasra and The Lounge Academy, as well as the National Iranian Oil Company and Sobh-e-Sadeq University. Delivering general English alongside dedicated IELTS and TOEFL preparation courses, and taking responsibility for curriculum assessment and course materials.
